A*AA including mathematics (minimum grade A). Offers typically exclude General Studies and Critical Thinking. A pass in the science Practical is required where it is separately endorsed. Applicants who have not studied the required subjects can apply for the Engineering/Physics/Mathematics Foundation Year. If you are taking an EPQ in addition to 3 A levels, you will receive the following offer in addition to the standard A level offer: AAA including mathematics, plus grade A in the EPQ. Combine civil engineering with architecture, and explore their importance in developing sustainable, urban areas. If you're interested in a career in structural engineering design, this course is for you. You’ll specialise in architecture and urban design, as well as studying structural and geomechanical engineering. You’ll also develop key design and manufacturing skills.
In the first two years, you'll develop a solid grounding in the fundamental engineering science, as well as the basis of civil engineering. You'll be introduced to key design skills, such as sketching model-making and computing, through workshops and through design projects.
In your third year, you'll specialise in civil engineering with a focus on urban design, and develop your knowledge of structures and geotechnics.
In year 4, you’ll put architectural principles into practice through design projects and study project economics and management.

Year 2: Liveable Cities; Structural Analysis; Mathematics for Engineering and the Environment II; Structural Design; City Infrastructure Design Project; Soil Mechanics; Hydraulics; Numerical Methods.
Year 3: Architecture 3, Individual Project, Structural Stability and Finite Element Analysis, Geotechnical Engineering, Urban Design.
Year 4: Architectural Group Design Project, Project Economics and Management, Architectural Engineering Project plus additional advanced module options.
How you will be assessed
Assessment is conducted through a combination of unseen written examinations and assessed coursework in the form of problem solving exercises, laboratory reports, design projects, essays, and individual and group projects. Experimental, research and design skills are assessed through laboratory reports, coursework exercises, dissertations and oral presentations.

The Student union is very active with campaigns, events and feedback. Thereu2019s lots of club however they introduced a sports pass so you have to pay to be a member and play sports. This has discouraged many and resulted in less student participation in societies.

I donu2019t stay in Southampton much as I donu2019t think there is a lot to do and feel it lacks community.

They offer a commuter fund which was very helpful for me as their parking permits are expensive, which should be lowered as parking is very hard to find.

There is lots of academic and well-being support that is frequently advertised and I attended the academic skills clinic, which was helpful. I donu2019t know about other services as I donu2019t use them.

Thereu2019s only two main study areas that are usually very busy, they could increase the study rooms available and make it niceee atmosphere, compared to other universities. I donu2019t know about other facilities, like accommodation.

My timetable is good because I donu2019t have many contact hours, I personally like this as a commuter. The lectures are always really helpful even though they vary in style, and they fully take on board feedback. The tutorials are less helpful because it depends on your tutor- some can really help ...
