Our MEng Electronic Engineering degree can also be taken with an additional year in industry. The year in industry is taken after Year 2 or Year 3 and is assessed by academics and industry experts. This can be a great way to give you a competitive edge among graduate recruiters by showing you can relate your academic skills and knowledge to contemporary industrial practice.
Our five-year MEng Electronic Engineering degree with industrial studies will allow you to develop the skills, knowledge, and application required for any area of the electronics industry, from computer processors and artificial intelligence, to nanoscale materials and communication techniques. This programme will allow you to focus your knowledge in your third and fourth years by selecting options from an extensive range of specialist technical modules and you will participate in a group project that will aim to solve a real industry problem. This project will test and further develop your technical skills but also will develop your management skills as you will work in a team that needs to deliver a solution to a real engineering problem.

This four-year MEng programme with a year in industry will enable you to pursue a career in any area of the electronic engineering industry. It has been designed to maximise student choice by allowing you to tailor the degree structure to suit your own interests.
During the first two years you will undertake a series of core modules, for example Circuits, Electronic Systems, Programming, Digital Systems and Devices, Fields, Forces and Materials, and Mathematics.
In your third and fourth years you can choose from a wide range of optional modules that reflect the specialist areas of electrical engineering that will take you to the leading edge of technology sought by industry. You will also work on an individual project with one of our research groups which will allow you to work at the frontier of knowledge.

The Student union is very active with campaigns, events and feedback. Thereu2019s lots of club however they introduced a sports pass so you have to pay to be a member and play sports. This has discouraged many and resulted in less student participation in societies.

I donu2019t stay in Southampton much as I donu2019t think there is a lot to do and feel it lacks community.

They offer a commuter fund which was very helpful for me as their parking permits are expensive, which should be lowered as parking is very hard to find.

There is lots of academic and well-being support that is frequently advertised and I attended the academic skills clinic, which was helpful. I donu2019t know about other services as I donu2019t use them.

Thereu2019s only two main study areas that are usually very busy, they could increase the study rooms available and make it niceee atmosphere, compared to other universities. I donu2019t know about other facilities, like accommodation.

My timetable is good because I donu2019t have many contact hours, I personally like this as a commuter. The lectures are always really helpful even though they vary in style, and they fully take on board feedback. The tutorials are less helpful because it depends on your tutor- some can really help ...
