LLB (Hons) Law is compliant with the QAA subject benchmark for Law. All our Law degrees and enable students to proceed to the next stage of training to qualify as a Barrister or Solicitor. The LLB includes the foundation legal subjects which meet the requirements of the Academic Component of becoming a Barrister. LLB (Hons) Law is an advantageous route that students follow if they plan to enter the legal profession. It offers innovative, exciting challenges and provides opportunities to enter a wide range of law-related roles. From the opportunity to take part in mock trials to student conferences, the unique feature of this award is its student-centred, problem-based approach to learning. You’ll be offered a supportive, guided environment to practise skills for careers in the legal sector and to create awareness of the roles of law and lawyers in society. The hallmark of this course is that in addition to Semesters 1 and 2, students engage in accelerated learning during the summer months, in order to complete their studies in a shorter time than the standard degree course. The two-year accelerated course is particularly attractive to applicants with relevant work or industry experience. On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: LLB (Hons) Law.

Year 1 (Semester 1) Legal Skills, English Legal Systems, Tort Law Year 1 (Semester 2) Contract Law, Constitutional Law, Law in Practice Year 1 (Semester 3) Either Criminal Law or Administrative Law, Research project, option module. Option modules include: Business Law and Commercial Awareness, Community Safety, Introduction to the Law of Evidence, E-Commerce, Work Experience. Year 2 (Semester 1) Either Criminal Law or Administrative Law, Law of Trusts and Equitable Remedies, optional module Year 2 (Semester 2) EU Law, Property Law and Application, optional module Year 2 (Semester 3) Dissertation, optional module. Option modules for year 2 include: Alternative Dispute Resolution, Artificial Intelligence Law, Company and Commercial Law, Contemporary Developments in Criminal Law, Cyber Law, Employment Law, Family Law, Healthcare Law, Human Rights, International Human Rights, Jurisprudence, Law Clinic, Mooting, Private International Law.

Each module includes a practice or ‘formative’ assessment for which you receive feedback from your tutor. Practice assessments are developmental and any grades you receive for them do not count towards your module mark. Each module has one or more formal or ‘summative’ assessment. This includes a range of assessments, such as essays, reports, problem-solving tasks, portfolios, presentations, academic posters, projects, dissertations and written examinations. The grades from formal assessments count towards your module mark.
