Course summary

What this course is about

UCAS code: CL65

Here's what University of Suffolk says about its Sport, Health & Exercise course.

The course has been set up in response to skills shortages in the sport, health, lifestyle and fitness industries. It has been designed after lengthy talks with employers, including health organisations and gyms, about the needs of the industry and the health needs of the population. You will develop core subject specific knowledge and abilities, and a range of transferrable skills that employers look for; such as producing a range of documents, analyse and synthesise information, work effectively within a team, manage your own learning and workload, solve problems and critically reflect on your own and others work.

Graduates have gone onto work as exercise referral specialists, personal trainers, sports therapists, sports coaches and teacher training. (Some of these careers required additional study) Whist this is a full-time course, typically this course generally only requires one-two days on campus attendance, supported by self-directed study. This means you can continue to work alongside your studies and balance other commitments. This programme is not open to students requiring a Student visa to study in the UK.

On successful completion of the Foundation Degree you can progress to the one-year BSc (Hons) Sport, Health & Exercise (Progression Route) to gain your full BA Hons degree. Employment opportunities could include; James Paget Hospital Community Health Care Fitness Entrepreneurs Fitness Managers Sports Therapists Personal Trainers Fire Fighters
