This top-up degree allows students who have completed relevant Level 4 and 5 qualifications elsewhere to join the final year of our BA (Hons) Film Studies programme, enabling you to gain a full Bachelor's degree in just one academic year.

Whether you’re passionate about zombie movies, Hollywood blockbusters, or art-house French classics, our Film Studies degree provides you with the intellectual rigour to analyse all types of film from a number of different perspectives.

Over the course of your year of study, you will spend time watching and discussing films from different periods, countries and genres. By engaging critically with film texts, you learn to deepen your understanding of narrative structure, technique and aesthetics, as well as your appreciation of how filmmakers choose to represent class, race and sexuality on screen.

At Winchester we understand that your perception of film becomes deeper when you bring in perspectives from other disciplines, including politics, philosophy, history, gender and race studies.

You are taught by a team of film specialists and industry professionals with different backgrounds, whose diverse research expertise is reflected in the breadth and scope of the curriculum.

They seem to care a lot about societies but the uni is also in massive debt so canu2019t afford to put much money into them. Lots of events held by the SU, I donu2019t go so unsure how much attention they get. The SU shop stocks a fair amount of food and drinks as well as uni clothing but again itu2...

One campus club which isnu2019t too bad but no where else to go for a club. Some bars and pubs in town but are expensive. Most students go to Southampton for clubbing nights.

A very expensive city coming from someone who lives in London when Iu2019m off of uni. Food on campus is expensive, drinks at the campus club are expensive, the town has nothing to do and very few shops tailored towards students (only Primark and maybe TKMaxx, now a new sports direct) so students te...

Never needed support in most aspects but I hadnu2019t heard great things about their mental health support from some people saying they can be quite dismissive so I went to my GP instead. Support from lecturers is easily accessible in the form of tutorials
