Midwifery at the University of Winchester will prepare you to deliver high-quality, family-centred midwifery care. We will build your skills, personal development, and confidence so that upon graduation you can feel ready to stride into the midwifery profession.
Our course focuses on a holistic approach to midwifery, providing both academic and practice-based learning. You will investigate the intricacies of our dynamic healthcare system, carry out practical work in our first-rate facilities, and gain an understanding of the life-long commitment to care that midwifery typifies.
Learn from practicing professionals about the profound issues that the healthcare system faces today and how it impacts pockets of our society in different ways. Lecturers also offer first-hand advice on your next steps after graduation and how you can build a professional edge in your chosen sector, whether this is in the private or public field. The University of Winchester offers a tight-knit community of staff and students who support each other to reach their goals. In the complex world of healthcare, you can rely upon the network you’ll build to help you become a diligent and respected graduate.
On successful completion of the course, you will have learned the professional skills and responsibilities and achieved the required theory and practice hours it takes to enter your chosen part of midwifery and start to care with compassion. You will also be recommended for entry to the NMC register as a Registered Midwife (RM).
