- According to tutors, a standout applicant has always done their research thoroughly and can prove their suitability for the course – so make sure the courses and universities you're applying to really are the right ones for you.
- Do you have the academic credentials to match the typical offer for the course you're applying to? Applying for a course with higher entry requirements than you're predicted is a risky business.
- Tutors want to see your personality coming through in your application, so don't overdo it on the editing - or the clichés!
- Think about the skills you'll be building, developing and using while you're on the course and use your personal statement to demonstrate to tutors how you have some of those skills - with some examples as evidence.
