Course
So bot courses (English and History of Art) have very few contact hours. We have one seminar in each a week, and it really is a lucky dip as to the quality of the classes. When I have a good tutor it's fantastic, but (especially English) it feels like high school, using work books to go through very simple concepts. History of Art is fantastic though, although it's a shame that we barely get any contact hours and the content seems to be crammed in to very little time. The course itself is so much more of what I expected out of university though, as it's so stimulating. In regard to assessment, we barely get anything, except an essay and an exam a semester in each subject, and an online (multiple choice) test in English. I would actually prefer much more assessment, as this seems a little lazy and easy. And so, I do not feel ready for honours as there is nothing to put my energy into.

Support
They were actually surprisingly more supportive than I thought they'd be. They're really understanding of financial difficulties and the loans and discretionary funds they offer really have saved me. They were also really good to talk to and they put me at ease.

Scholarship
I first applied for it first year, and it was due to difficulty affording accommodation and the deposit for my second year flat. I just emailed student support and got a meeting where we talked through the form. This form needs to be filled out every year you want to apply for the fund. It is very straightforward and worth the small hassle. Without it I wouldn't have been able to afford university. My advice would be to go as soon as possible, as at Glasgow the deadline is early second semester.

Accommodation
The subway is real close. I live close to most of my friends. The pubs and nightclubs are cheap, especially for students.

I am meeting my friends at different flats to view them. Deciding what we all like and then contact the estate agents. I know that they advertise flats early, so i thought id get ahead of the game.
