To include one essay based A level in a humanities or social science subject Applicants will also be expected to have a GCSE in a language or have experience of learning a language other than your mother tongue. Excluded subject - General Studies and Critical Thinking

Access to HE Diploma

We consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall, with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 15 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. For programmes with French, applicants must have studied French to at least GCSE level. For all other single and joint honours language programmes, experience of learning a language other than your mother tongue, and a demonstrable aptitude for language study are required. Applications are considered on a case by case basis, and we may request an interview. Due to the high volume of applications, we do not make offers of study purely on the basis of meeting grade requirements.

We consider applications from students offering an EPQ and may make an alternative offer to include three A levels, one grade lower than our usual requirement, along with a specific grade in the EPQ.

Queen Mary University of London welcomes applications from students currently studying Level 3 BTEC qualifications and will consider you for entry to the majority of our undergraduate courses. The typical entry requirements will vary according to the course you are applying for. Some of our courses require specific subject knowledge which you may not be able to cover as part of a Level 3 BTEC qualification and we may therefore require additional Level 3 qualifications to ensure that you are suitably prepared for relevant courses. Prepare for international business, becoming versed in Russian language and culture while studying finance and management. This programme consists of the major element Russian and the minor element Business Management. No prior knowledge of Russian is required.
Studying Russian means engaging deeply with the language, in conjunction with an exploration of Russia’s culture, society, and history. You’ll develop a sophisticated understanding of the way Russians think and feel and the cultural references that shape their identities.Teaching of written and spoken Russian continues all the way through to your final year, combining practical language teaching with modules that explore the language in different contexts.
You’ll also learn about financial management, marketing, strategy and human resources, with business modules making up about one-quarter of your programme.
You’ll spend your third year studying in Russia or a Russian-speaking country, immersing yourself in its language and society.

Assessment methods

Most graduates studying a Russian and East European course studied Russian, and with Russia playing an important part in world business and politics, graduates are in demand. This is an elite group — 200 UK graduates got degrees in this subject in 2015, and they usually have amongst the best average starting salaries of all language graduates. London was by far the most likely place for Russian graduates to work in the UK and naturally, a reasonable proportion - about a fifth - went overseas to work. Postgraduate study (usually in law or languages) is also quite common — this is a growing area for the UK.
