    • The independence is a nice factor if that’s your style. You get a space to display and shape to your style and work. The course typically provides vague briefs to allow free range and versatility within the outcomes and the grading is straight forward. Admittedly some lectures and seminars feel a bit draining but can be beneficial in broadening your visual library in artists. They also regularly and consistently do critiques and feedback, whether it be one on one with tutors or from peers or both. There is also a sense of community within the studio spaces and the people around you as well as a flexibility on when you can come in and work outside of timetable with it occasionally being open on weekends and on weekends open till 8pm. There is also a wide range of workshops which intertwine and help expand your skills or find something that you can specialise in.

    • The course itself is extremely independent but receive regular feedback and support from tutors and peers. Loughborough university hold a lot of great events in general with the student union (clubbing or not.) Housing wise it gets pricey depending where you go.

    • I have yet to use welfare services fortunately. As for academics, i know who and or where to go to for help and advice. There is also regular meetings and feedback in the studio work which help improve work week by week.

    • Freshers week was great, for someone who isn’t sociable and was quite overwhelmed and scared it was a good way to get familiar with people around me. It also helped me with bonding with flatmates which is important given you’re going to be living with these people for a duration. After freshers everything was a bit slow. I feel like uni life is almost romanticised as this experience of parties, socialising, romance, academics etc. However, it’s been relatively isolating if you do not throw yourself to every person you meet, and likely you won’t always click with everyone. It’s very easy to dip in mental health and stress even if you go out socially. It’s a scary boat and everyone is in it and you’ll find one person at least or a group that you click with to spend time with whether it be flatmates, people on your course or even strangers you bumped into at a club. So it’s not entirely hell and you can still build an experience and ‘uni life’ just maybe not the one everyone images or tries to make.

    • You have the option of 2 sciences to study so you kind of get to pick what you do from the get go. It is really intense but, if you put in enough effort I think you could get really good grades
