In my specific course, there’s not a lot of group work as much as there are assignments and journal articles to read. Depending on the course, there’s usually a lot of content but that’s given considering it’s higher education. They do expect students to do the work and know the work themself most of the time, but help is always available and no student feels the need to hesitate in asking. Timetables are perfect and easy to plan around, especially for those who work jobs, and one free day is definitely given to ensure students get a break within the week. Lectures may be hard to focus on as they’re not interesting more of the fact that they’re informative and a lot to remember, but if you’re in the right mindset then this shouldn’t be a problem. Although attendance isn’t forced upon a student, it’ll take a toll on you if you don’t attend as often as you should as in this course particularly there’s a LOT of content.

      Overall

The university is so amazing, especially for international students and for students who want to have a busy/sociable life. It provides many quiet spaces, a lot of private rooms or just quiet rooms in general to study/work on assignments/sit down with your laptop or a book. The people are friendly as well and there’s a huge diversity of people, so you’re a lot likely to find someone from your culture/a culture you’re comfortable with. Teachers are friendly and approachable and course leaders are always elaborating on the fact that they’re there to help. There are prayer rooms for multiple faiths and rooms where you can meet and socialise, also a mini bar/pub type room on the main campus in case you’re looking for a fun time after classes. Overall, the quality of the uni is great and I’d 100% recommend!

      Unilife

As salford uni is close to town, it’s also close to a lot of fun town life. Just a ten minute bus ride and you arrive into Arndale or piccadilly gardens where most of the fun/shops/restaurants are located. University itself isn’t as fun, although they hold events and such during breaks and festival periods to keep students entertained.

Unfortunately the food in the canteens and cafes are quite pricey, I don’t think they should be considering there are students who don’t yet work but it is what it is. Otherwise food is great and the snacks in the convenience stores are top tier. I believe they should hire other culture cooks as the food in the cafeteria can be bland and flavourless, but it’s edible.
